Stewart Woodman, a.k.a. Shefzilla, to Open New Restaurant

phpCMilABMinneapolis chef Stewart Woodman has announced that he will reopen Heidi’s this October in the Lyn-Lake neighborhood. The original, much-loved Heidi’s was destroyed in a fire last spring.

According to Woodman’s blog,, “the new Heidi’s . . . will have a casual, romantic feel, re-imagined for a new space and new neighborhood.  Twin Cities diners can expect the new Heidi’s to offer signature favorites like braised lamb shank, while continuing to push the boundaries of the fine dining experience with bold new dishes. And Heidi’s will continue to offer extraordinary food at affordable prices–which includes a commitment to having all menu entrees under $20.”

MHS Press, under our Borealis imprint, is publishing Woodman’s first cookbook, Shefzilla: Conquering Haute Cuisine at Home. It will be in your favorite bookstores in October and is available for preorder now.

In an interview with the Star Tribune, Woodman stated, “The book was a knee-jerk reaction to not dealing with the discouragement [of the fire] . . . All we really wanted to do, and want to do, is get back to work. Opening the restaurant can’t happen soon enough for me.”
