Adjective: Broke; out of money.

Noun: A group of buildings used by military personnel as housing.

barrio

Noun: Spanish word for neighborhood.

basics

Noun:  Things that are seen as necessary to life, such as food, clothing, and shelter.

Noun:  An underlying condition or circumstance.

batik

Noun: Cloth featuring designs made with a traditional wax-resist dyeing technique.

bayonet

Noun: A pointed knife or sword fitted on the muzzle of a gun.

beneficial

Adjective:  Helpful or good to something or someone.

benefit

Noun:  An advantage, help or aid.

Verb:  To be or to provide a benefit to.  (benefits, benefiting, benefited)

Bengali

Adjective:  Of, from, or pertaining to Bengal, a region in the northeast of South Asia.

Verb:  To improve; to encourage to succeed.  (betters, bettering, bettered)

bhajan

Noun:  Any type of Indian devotional song.

bilingual

Adjective: Having the ability to speak two languages.

biography

Noun:  A person's life story.

blessed

Adjective:  Having divine aid, good fortune, or other blessing.

blessing

Noun:  Good fortune; a thing one is glad of.

board

Noun: 1. A committee that manages the business of an organization. 2. Regular meals or the amount paid for them in a place of lodging.

boarding school

Noun:  A school which provides board and lodging to students.  Students go home at weekends or between terms.

bombardment

Noun:  Overwhelming, concentrated outpouring. 

bond

Noun:  An agreement or friendship that unites individuals or peoples into a group.

bracero

Noun: A Mexican laborer permitted to enter the United States and work for a limited period of time, especially in agriculture.

brahmin

Noun:  A Hindu priestly caste; one of the four varnas or social groups based on occupation in ancient Hindu society.

brainwash

Verb:  To systematically tell misinformation to a person in order to manipulate their actions and ways of thinking.  (brainwashes, brainwashing, brainwashed)

brief

Verb: To knowledgeably summarize a recent development to some person with decision-making power. (briefs, briefing, briefed)

briefing

Noun: A presentation of information or instruction; the meeting at which it is presented.

brunt

Noun:  The major part; the bulk.

Buddha

Noun:  A spiritual teacher from ancient India and the founder of Buddhism.

Buddhist

Adjective:  Of, relating to, or practicing Buddhism.

Noun:  A practitioner of the religion and philosophy of Buddhism.

burden

Noun: A heavy load; a responsibility; a cause of worry.

bureaucratic

Adjective:  Describes a large government or organization in which overly rigid or complex rules prevent anything from getting done.

butter lamp

Noun:  A lamp used by Tibetan Buddhists for religious purposes.  The lamps traditionally burn clarified yak butter but now often use vegetable oil.

buzz word

Noun:  A trendy word or phrase.
