Nirupama Misra, c.2006.

Nirupama Misra was born in Orissa, India, and is the daughter of Sudhansu Misra. The family moved to Minnesota in 1959 when Niru was two years old. She attended college in Florida and Minnesota and became involved in the India Association of Minnesota [IAM] soon after college. She served on the board of IAM for three years before being elected president. She was interviewed in 1997 at age 40 and again in 2004 at age 47.
