Calderwood for Governor

The Prohibition Party, founded in 1869, is a third party opposed to the sale and consumption of alcohol. A Prohibition Party candidate for President has appeared on every presidential election ballot since 1872. Many state and local elections have included Prohibition candidates, such as Willis Calderwood, who ran for Minnesota governor in 1914 and received just over 5% of the votes.

The Prohibition Party was also the first party to include women as delegates at national conventions. The Party's platform included woman suffrage in 1872, 44 years before either of the two major parties.
