Connecticut Arms Herrington Bulldog Derringer

This gun is a Connecticut Arms Hammond "Bulldog" single shot .44 rimfire caliber derringer pistol, in its original box with six cartridges. It was owned and used by Major James Madison Bowler, a farmer from Renville County, during the war. Bowler was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1877. The Bulldog was the most successful firearm from Connecticut Arms and could shoot both pistol and rifle cartridges.
