All the countries involved in World War I had various versions of protective helmets, with different shapes, styles, colors and markings. This French-designed helmet, issued to Ezra Curry as he served with the Norton-Harjes Motor Ambulance Corps, shows the insignia of the French forces: a grenade with the letters RF, for Republique Francaise.
