On August 19, 2015, Harold Holzer, a preeminent Lincoln scholar, explored the lesser known stories of Lincoln's life as well as myths that have endured, even grown, over the years. Holzer also discussed the press, its importance role during the war, and how the President sought to control it. He shares myriad of depictions of Lincoln, on his deathbed, that appeared in newspapers across the country in April 1865. Closer to home, Holzer touched on the the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862 and Lincoln's role as Commander-in-Chief. 

Holzer serves as chairman of The Lincoln Bicentennial Foundation, successor organization to the United States Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, to which he was appointed by President Clinton in 2000, and co-chaired from 2001–2010.
