This Women's Christian Temperance Union pledge card reads: "I pledge my word and honor, God helping me, to abstain from ALL intoxicating Liquors as a beverage (including wine, beer and cider) and from the use of Tobacco in any form." The WCTU handed out these cards before Prohibition officially began in 1920.
