Reel pattern applique quilt
This quilt is big enough for a trundle bed and was made in a Reel pattern. The quilt was originally owned by a enslaved woman named Cheatham. When the war ended, she moved to Minnesota with her daughters, Lizzie and Ellen, taking the quilt with her. Sadly, she died soon after arriving. With their mother gone, the daughters had to find work. They were hired by Hannah Conner, and Lizzie and Ellen gave the quilt to Mrs. Conner as a gift. Ellen Cheatham is listed in the 1880 census as a servant in the Conner household in Minneapolis. Her race is listed as white, and her birthplace, as well as the birthplace of her parents, is listed as Missouri.
