Regimental brass band, Fourth Regiment
In 1863, the Fourth Minnesota Regiment served for many months in Mississippi and then traveled more than 200 miles to Tennessee. Towards the end of the war, the Fourth participated in General William T. Sherman's March to the Sea. Regimental bands such as this one attracted recruits, entertained soldiers in camp, and provided much-needed morale boosts.
