Second Minnesota Volunteer Infantry in front of long barracks

The Second Minnesota poses in front of the long barracks at Fort Snelling in 1861. The Second distinguished itself at the Battle of Missionary Ridge in November 1863, leading a Union brigade to capture a Confederate position. The regiment also marched from Atlanta to the sea with General William T. Sherman.
