United States Law Prohibiting Sale of Intoxicating Liquor to Soldiers

On May 18, 1917, as part of the Selective Service Act, the U.S. Congress passed a law making it illegal to sell liquor to soldiers, while in uniform. This law was passed three years before Prohibition took effect. Previous laws existed to limit sale of alcohol to soldiers, but this law increased restrictions.
