Red Wing, Minn., Dec. 30, 1898.

MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT between THE RED WING STONEWARE COMPANY and
LOUIS JOHNSON.

THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into on the 30th day of December, 1898, to be and remain in force for the period of one year from the 2d day of January, 1899, to the 2d day of January, 1900, WITNESSETH:

That the said Louis Johnson herby agrees to conduct and manage a boarding house A house which rooms and meals. at the Clay Pits of the Red Wing Stoneware Company for and during the year above mentioned, and to board Provide meals for. any and all men employed by the Red Wing Stoneware Company at said Pits, and to charge for said board a price not to exceed Three Dollars ($3.00) per week for each man, or a pro rata Proportional rate charged by the day. price for each day, and to furnish good and sufficient food and lodging, and to conduct said boarding house and lodging house in such a manner as to satisfy all men employed by said Red Wing Stoneware Company.

And said Louis Johnson further agrees that, for the privilege of conducting said boarding house, he will pay to said Company the sum of Two Hundred Dollars, ($200.00) per year, as rent for the dwelling house, lodging house, barns, and out buildings owned by said Red Wing Stoneware Company, and the above rent of Two Hundred Dollars, ($200.00) per year to be paid as follows: Twenty-two Dollars ($22.00) to be paid on the first day of April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November, and Twenty-four Dollars, ($24.00) to be paid on the first day of December, during the year 1899, making altogether a total of Two Hundred Dollars, ($200.00) yearly rent.

And the said Louis Johnson further agrees, if required by said Red Wing Stoneware Company, to furnish a good and suitable team, together with harness and all appliances Equipment. necessary for the work at said Clay Pits, and at a price of Thirty Dollars, ($30.00) per month, or a pro rata price for each day during the months and days that clay is being dug by the Red Wing Stoneware Company.

The Red Wing Stoneware Company, in consideration of the sum paid, and in accordance with the above stipulations, Requirements. agrees to rent its buildings and an area of land equal to the present area of pasturage Grassland for livestock. on its clay land situated in the town of Goodhue, to said Louis Johnson, and to pay
to said Louis Johnson the sum of Thirty Dollars, ($30.00) per month for use of team provided by said Louis Johnson during each and every month, and a pro rata sum for each day or part of month that said team is actually in service and at work for said Red Wing Stoneware Company.
