THE LARGEST SALE KNOWN

State Lands Adjoining Duluth are Sold Today at the Top.

Several Hundred Thousand Dollars Realized for Schools.

State Auditor Braden is a keen judge of human nature, and when he surveyed the densely packed crowd in the court room at the county building this morning and afternoon, he knew the state had a bonanza Rich mine, source of wealth. in store as a result of the sale of state lands. The crowd filled every inch of space in the room, sat on the desks and table, crowded out into the hallways and bid at any and everything that was offered, the comparative results being ahead of anything before known in the history of the state. There were fifty "forties" Plots of forty acres. put up, the buyers and prices paid being as follows per acre:

The Grassy Point lands were not offered for sale, as Auditor Braden thought the state could make more money by holding on to them. Parties were present from a number of outside cities.
