Description: John Pillsbury (1827-1901) became governor of Minnesota during the Grasshopper Plagues of the 1870s. He encouraged non-government organizations to provide aid for the farmers were who affected. Pillsbury was also committed to the University of Minnesota. He donated money, personal time, and property to keep the University intact.
