2nd Minnesota Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment - Regimental Flag

2nd Minnesota veterans at monument dedication, Chickamauga, GA

When most of the men re-enlisted after their three-year service term expired, the 2nd Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment was veteranized and carried that honor on its color. In September 1864 this regimental flag was brought from Minnesota by Color Sergeant Jacobus Holder and was carried from Sherman’s “March to the Sea” until the end of the Civil War in 1865.
